I was on Dog Flight and my AFSC was
292X1. T/Sgt. M. Contreras and M/Sgt. Billy Hill (Hill or Hall) were assigned
to the Flight when I was there. We lived in small Quonset buildings for a
brief period, then the barracks. Upon leaving I went to Bremerhaven
Germany as did the above two sergeants. I was E4 at the time with a 5 skill
level. Upon return to the USA, I went to Keelser AFB, and after a year of training, spent the
next 3 years in the Air Defense Command in Saratoga Springs, NY taking care
of a Digital Data Processing Machine and Gap Filler Radar sites in
Vermont and Mass. I
married and left the Air Force in 1966. In retrospect, it was the most
enjoyable time of my life. Every time I find myself on an Air Base, I feel as
though I have come home. The people were great and what a job we did in
taking care of the good people of the USA. I still am proud of that time of
my life and would do it again in a second !!! Mark |
