A SHORT BIO
As for me, did a tour in
Taiwan, Shu Lin Kou, after Turkey, good duty compared to mudsite, the Navy
was short of operators, so kinda of got loaned to them, stayed in their
barracks, (even kept beer in the refrig.) survived a couple of typhoons
and discharged at Travis AFB in 62. Did a little college and worked
for my dad for awhile, hired out on the Great Northern Railroad as an Agent/Telegrapher,
made the transitions from International Morse to American Morse, wireless
to wire, di-dah to clickity/clack and learned to send, about as good as
the goofy Romanians and Bulgarians I used to copy in Turkey.
Worked my way up through the "ranks" like a true mustanger
to management position with them, heading out the clerical positions and
30 years later retired from the now Burlington Northern Railroad in Minneapolis
in 95 as Manager Operations Support
