A SHORT BIO
I was an X1 during that first tour in Turkey. Spent a couple weeks at Mudsite
enroute from Bingen, Germany to Samsun. That would have been late '58 (I
think). After a few months several of us were recalled back to Mainsite.
Spent the remainder of my time as X1 controller on Charlie Flight. Left
there in early '60 (as best as I recall) Spent about 10 months at Spec
Comm before cross training into the X2 field. Boy was I lucky! Since I
was top in the class I got to go to K School at Ft. Meade and then to Wakkanai.
Did my 15 months there and went back to Goodbuddy as an instructor. Knew
Elmer Spoo, John Cihota, Geo Cunningham and a bunch of the others during
that 3 years. Finally got sprung from there in late '65 and did consequetive
tours in Crete, England and back to KCDI. Left in late '72 for Goodbuddy
... 6 months there and retired in mid '73. Putzed around in Alaska, and
other exotic places before I finished up a degree in Political Science.
Settled in Pasadena, CA and worked for the telephone company for 18 years.
Retired as a Network Engineer (sounds better than it was). Me and my bride
of 41 years then migrated to Prescott, AZ. Play a bit of golf (not very
well) and do some volunteer activities with the Chamber of Commerce. Pat
and I try to get away whenever we can, but none of us that enjoy travelling
do as much as we'd like.
Looking forward to some great times with the Karamursel vet's.
